Can I review games on my phone or tablet?
Yes. Keep StoneBase running on your computer and connect the device to the same trusted local network. Open the computer’s StoneBase network address in a browser. SGF upload opens the file picker on that device, while analysis and your library remain on the computer. This is browser access to your own server, not a native mobile app or a hosted cloud service.
What is StoneBase?
StoneBase is a desktop baduk (Go) game review application — think ChessBase, but for Go. It lets you import SGF files, analyze games with KataGo AI, search for board positions, and organize your game library.
What is KataGo?
KataGo is one of the strongest open-source Go AI engines. It provides move-by-move evaluation including win rate, score estimates, and best variations. StoneBase integrates directly with KataGo running on your machine.
What file formats are supported?
StoneBase supports SGF (Smart Game Format), the standard file format for Go games. You can import single SGF files, multiple files at once, or entire folders.
Is my data stored locally?
Your games and analysis stay on the host computer. Optional usage and diagnostic telemetry can be disabled in Settings; access validation is separate.
What board sizes are supported?
StoneBase supports all standard board sizes including 9×9, 13×13, and 19×19.
How much does StoneBase cost?
StoneBase offers a free tier with up to 50 games and single-game AI analysis. For unlimited games, batch analysis, position search, and more, you can upgrade to the Pro plan. The Max plan adds cloud-based KataGo analysis — no local GPU required.
What does the 50-game limit on the Free tier actually mean?
It is the maximum size of your local library at any given time — not a monthly quota and not a lifetime cap. You can import, delete, and re-import games freely; if you hit 50, just delete some you no longer need to make room. There is no per-month import limit, no expiration, and every other Free feature (single-game AI analysis, advanced search & filters, OGS import, SGF import/export, board annotations, themes) has no usage cap.
Is there a cheaper plan if I just want unlimited games?
A Supporter tier is in the works (€2.99/month or €24/year) that lifts only the 50-game cap, with no other Pro features. It is aimed at users who want unlimited library access and want to support the project without paying for Pro features they will not use.
Can I use my license on multiple devices?
Yes. Each license can be activated on up to 3 devices (e.g., your desktop, laptop, and a spare). You can deactivate a device from Settings to free up a slot.
Can I use my own KataGo network?
Absolutely. You can configure the KataGo binary path, network model, and analysis settings through the Settings page.
